Transforming!\u00a0 That’s what the Resurrection event became for the Apostles- transforming.\u00a0 From a group of everyday regular folks- fisherman, tax collectors, and average Joes, the Apostles were transformed into courageous men of Faith who went out and evangelized despite warnings from the authorities.\u00a0 Today, we hear about this transformation in our readings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the Gospel, we hear about the beginning of the transformation.\u00a0 These Apostles were huddled together in an upper room on the evening of the resurrection event.\u00a0 They were afraid, confused, demoralized, and conflicted; pondering about what they had heard and what some of them had seen.\u00a0 But then, Jesus appeared in person, and validated the rumors.\u00a0 Here in the flesh, touchable, and able to eat just like the rest of them, was this man who had been arrested, tried, severely beaten, tortured, crucified, and buried.\u00a0 They had seen it all- they were witnesses to all of the horror.\u00a0 It all seemed impossible- but it was real.\u00a0 Now, they were witnesses to the reality of the Resurrection.\u00a0 And it brought them incredible joy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And so then we hear about Peter and the others in the Acts of the Apostles at a time just a few days later.\u00a0 They were working miracles and speaking out.\u00a0 Peter, who denied Christ three times; and the other Apostles, who wouldn’t even show their faces; these men had been transformed into fearless men who are spreading joy, and don’t care what the consequences are in their secular society.\u00a0 That is what the Easter event meant to the Apostles.\u00a0 It was transforming.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
All of us are in the middle of our Easter event.\u00a0 How seriously are we taking it?\u00a0 Has it become a transforming event in our lives?\u00a0 You see, we are also called upon to be witnesses, witnesses of what happened, yes, because the reports have been maintained in the Gospels and by tradition these 2000 years.\u00a0 But what is really important, is that we believe and allow ourselves to be transformed by projecting that we really do believe with Easter Joy!\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
